Sledging

Rob:  For Jenna's birthday present I took her sledging (yet another psuedo-sport invented by a bunch of drunk Kiwis with too much time on their hands) on the Kaituna River outside Rotorua, my vote for smelliest town on earth. The sledge is a hollow platstic boogie board with handles (see below). You then squirm your way into a wetsuit, slap on fins and a helmet and proceed to propel yourself down a river, waterfalls and all. Luckily for us the Kaituna River seems to be the only body of water in New Zealand warmer than 50 degrees, the water was actually quite lovely. Now, although this seems like a dangerous activity, we had this gem as a guide. He didn't even have to say it, we knew his middle name was Safety.

Here's Jenna going over a waterfall

Here she is execuiting perfect sledging form: head down, eyes closed and praying.

Me going off a waterfall.

The two of us going off a waterfall together.

Me executing a perfect barrell role.

And now what everyone paid to see, Jenna heading fearlessly down a waterfall and then flipping over.
It was a lot of fun. as you can probably tell for the pictures going over the waterfalls was the best part.
